The Sevenoaks Symphony Orchestra, founded in 1944, is made up of 70 local musicians with a professional conductor and leader. We are set up as a charity, and our aim is to make live orchestral music available locally.
Our three subscription concerts each season focus particularly on 19th and 20th century masterpieces which are attractive and enjoyable for our audiences, and at the same time interesting and challenging for us as players. In addition we present our very popular Family Concerts in October and a Taste of Classics concert in the New Year, a short mid-week concert with complimentary glass of wine. We also team up with the Sevenoaks Philharmonic Choir for a joint concert in June.
We rehearse each Wednesday from 8-10.15pm at Sevenoaks Primary School.
You can find us on Facebook here or follow us on Twitter.

An afternoon concert of Romantic music, opening with the overture to Wagner's only comic opera, Die Meistersinger. Although, as this is the curtain-raiser to an opera which lasts nearly five hours, he must have had some confidence in his own sense of humour. Our next piece is the 'cello concerto by Dvorak which has long been a favourite in the repertoire. We are delighted to welcome back the soloist Liubov Ulybysheva, who has previously played with us in concertos by Beethoven and by Delius. The concert will finish with a very popular symphony, Rachmaninov's second. Many orchestra members have asked for the opportunity to perform this wonderful music and, to use a cliche, "we hope you enjoy it".
This concert is part of our season ticket scheme, you can purchase season tickets online using the 'Book tickets' option of our website.

We aim to play a taste of many popular pieces in a concert lasting around an hour, with music by Beethoven and Mozart along with many others including the famous Adagio by Albinoni. Darrell Davison, our conductor, will compere the evening which will also include some Viennese tunes from Johann Strauss.
