Orchestral Concert - 22-11-2008

This Sceptred Isle

Arrangements for this concert are now up in the air with the announcement that the Stag is closing (see 'Latest news', right), but we hope that this it will take place on Saturday 22nd November or Sunday 23rd November. Details will be published as soon as we have them.

An all-English concert to end our 2008 season.

Walton's Crown Imperial will get the programme off to a grand start, and this will be followed by Arnold Bax's best-known tone poem, Tintagel.

The concerto will be the rarely-heard one for violin by Delius, written during the First World War, in which we will be joined by the young prize-winning violinist Lucy Baker (right), whose teachers have included Igor Oistrakh.

The concert will end with Elgar's stirring 1st Symphony.
